About the artist
Radenko Milak was born in 1980 in Travnik, former Yugoslavia. Milak now lives and works in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Milak’s work, focused primarily on watercolor, painting, drawing, and animated film, draws from archival sources to examine the societal dynamics and physical transformations of cities affected by modernization, conflict, and cultural influences.
Milak graduated from the Art Academy of the University of Banja Luka in 2003 and later from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Art in Belgrade in 2007.
Over his career, Milak has held more than 20 solo exhibitions across France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Colombia and has participated in prominent events such as the 57th Venice Biennale, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in Mumbai, and Bienalsur in Buenos Aires.
His work is part of the collections of the Albertina Museum, Vienna, Austria; Folkwang Museum, Essen, Germany; Kunstmuseum, Wolfsburg, Germany and Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska, Banja Luka, Sarajevo among others.
