About the artist
Zhivago Duncan was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to a Syrian mother and a Danish father. His practice reflects on identity, life and death, instinct and consciousness—particularly in an era dominated by immediacy, virtuality, noise, and technology. Based in Mexico City, Duncan is a multidisciplinary artist whose works are held in major collections such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Saatchi Collection (UK), Barjeel Art Foundation (UAE), Olbricht Collection (Germany), among many others worldwide. He has recently exhibited at Museo Marco in Monterrey and at Times Square Tower, NYC, as part of Standard Arts Projects.
In 2012, he received the XLVIII Premio Internazionale Le Muse in Florence. Duncan holds a BFA in Painting from Chelsea College of Art and Design in London.
Zhivago Duncan nació en Terre Haute, Indiana de madre siria y padre danés. Su práctica reflexiona sobre la identidad, la vida y la muerte, el instinto y la conciencia, especialmente en una época dominada por la inmediatez, la virtualidad, el bullicio y la tecnología. Con base en México, Duncan es un artista multidisciplinario cuyas obras forman parte de importantes colecciones como el Pérez Art Museum Miami, la Saatchi Collection (Reino Unido), la Barjeel Art Foundation (Emiratos Árabes Unidos), la Olbricht Collection (Alemania), entre muchas otras colecciones privadas alrededor del mundo. Recientemente ha expuesto en el Museo Marco de Monterrey y en Times Square Tower, Nueva York, como parte de los proyectos de Standard Arts.
